Angelia will always hold a special place in my heart for being the first woman I photographed on Pomfret Street. Below is Angelia’s client interview—please take a moment to read over her thoughts, enjoy her photos, and then contact me today to discuss how you want to be photographed.  I’m always amazed that so many of my clients don’t realize how beautiful they are, that somehow a bit of  baby weight, or stretch marks, or scars, or cellulite makes them not worthy to feel pretty. Which is one of the reasons I love what I do—I get to show my clients they ARE beautiful regardless of all of those things. Angelia is one such client. She booked me because she was getting married and wanted to do bridal boudoir portraits her now-husband but she was hesitant because she hadn’t lost the baby weight from having their one-year-old son. As I always do with my clients, I assured her that between clothing that fits well, professional hair/makeup, and especially proper posing, she will look—and feel—amazing. Please read her client interview below, because you may just find you can relate. How long have you been wanting to do a boudoir/contemporary glamour session and what made you decide now was the time to do one? I have been wanting to do one for quite some time but I never really thought I could look that good doing one. Boy, did Shannon prove me wrong! I was in need of a wedding present for my husband and since I gave birth to our son I have

How Did You Get into Boudoir? | Boudoir Carlisle PA | Shannon Hemauer

Originally posted July 07, 2017 I don’t talk often about myself on my social media, but I wanted to share with you how I got into photography because it’s a question I’m asked often. In 2013 I asked my husband for a “nice camera” because I wanted to take better pictures of our two boys. I’ll explain further down why I put “nice camera” in quotes. So, my sweet husband bought me a Nikon D3200, which is an entry-level DSLR. Armed with the kit lenses, I set out to start taking pictures of our boys—I had a lot of fun playing around! After having the camera for a week or two, I decided to challenge myself and learn how to shoot manual—I recommend Click it Up a Notch, which is the site I went to learn the basics! The site’s owner, Courtney, has a wonderful way of explaining the exposure triangle, what metering means, how to Back Button Focus (BBF), etc. It’s a great beginning resource for anyone just starting out. Armed with the exposure cheat sheets to help me figure out what shutter speed, ISO (how much light gets to the sensor), and aperture (how much is in focus) I needed, I set out to tell the camera what to do. But, my then-2-year-old and 9-month-old boys wouldn’t sit still long enough for me to think through my settings (they still don’t sit still to be honest), so I reached out to a friend to see if she’d let me photograph her older kids, which I can happily say she did. This lead me to deciding I was going to challenge myself to shoot a different genre each month for the rest of 2013, so one month I shot a maternity session, the next a lifestyle newborn (meaning the

Brittany shot a session with me five years ago for a bridal boudoir session, and for the past two years has reached out to me inquiring about session dates, but it wasn’t until this February I finally got her back into the studio. To me, Brittany has an ‘I look like a badass but I’m also sweet’ vibe about her, and I feel her outfits for this session really showed that. What do you think? Are you a badass with a sweet side like Brittany? Or maybe more of a sweet side but want to let out some badass? Contact me today to schedule your phone consult so we can discuss how you want to be photographed. So, what did you think? Is she a badass with a sweet side? A big thank you to lead stylist, Nath, for doing a great job on Britany’s and makeup, and to Dianna for helping me get the set ready. SEVERAL IMAGES TASTEFULLY SHOW NIPPLE AND MAY NOT BE “SAFE FOR WORK.” A few days before her boudoir session, Abby asked if she could incorporate her wedding gown into a few images. I, of course, said YES; however, I’m not a wedding photographer—I don’t want to shoot you so you look like bride on the wedding day (that’s your wedding photographer’s job)—but I do want to find ways to incorporate bridal elements into your boudoir session. I told Abby to bring anything else bridal she’d like to use, so she brought her veil and a parasol she carried down the aisle. Before her session I asked Abby to tell me a little bit about herself and share what she’s hoping to get out of the session. Take a moment to read her words and then contact me to schedule a phone consult to discuss how you want to be photographed. Initially, I wanted to do this session for my husband. We got engaged and married within about 8 weeks. There just wasn’t time to do everything I wanted, including a wedding boudoir session. We’ve also been through so much through his very lengthy divorce, continuing custody battle, moving twice in a year and a half, and blending our four teenagers into a family, that we just haven’t had much time for us. So I wanted to give him a gift and hopefully inspire us to continue to hold on to each other and grow as a couple. At the same time, I wanted to give myself something. I wanted the help of a professional to capture the best and most beautiful parts of me so that I may be able to shift my perspective on myself. Plus, I’m not getting any younger. And there’s never the perfect time for anything,

Deb | Scranton PA Boudoir | Shannon Hemauer Photography

Boudoir Shannon Hemauer Photography Scranton PA

Deb is getting married in early 2020 and wanted to do a boudoir session so she could gift her groom stunning portraits of herself to him… but she was so excited for him to see her images that she included him at the portrait reveal! This happens a lot—brides-to-be just cannot wait to give their soon-to-be husband their gift and usually end up giving the album when they receive it. I joke that many have tried to wait until wedding day, but most have failed! Deb, who is a fellow photographer, really had a great time at her session… and was floored when she saw her images. I cannot sing my praise loud enough. I went into this experience incredibly insecure. I am about 30lb overweight and definitely do not feel beautiful or sexy. Or at least I didn’t feel that way before Shannon showed me my pictures. All I can say is WOW! Shannon seriously knows her craft because she found my angles and worked them. I LOVE my images. I just keep looking at them over and over again. She made me look and feel so beautiful. If you are considering some glamorous pics DO IT! And use Shannon. You will not regret it. Think you need to be getting married to do a boudoir session? Nope! Because honestly, even if you were doing the session for your signifiant other, the session would end up being for you. (Women just think they need an excuse to do a session, so they often will say they are doing it for someone special.) So! Looks like fun, right? Well it is. Contact me today to schedule you phone consult so we can discuss how you want to be photographed. A big thank you to lead stylist, Nath, for helping Deb
