Originally posted on September 29, 2017.  Last month I shot my final session at the Carlisle studio, and I thought I would take a walk down memory lane and look at the very first session I shot at that location. Angelia will always hold a special place in my heart for being the first woman I photographed on Pomfret Street. Below is Angelia’s client interview—please take a moment to read over her thoughts, enjoy her photos, and then contact me today to discuss how you want to be photographed.  I’m always amazed that so many of my clients don’t realize how beautiful they are, that somehow a bit of  baby weight, or stretch marks, or scars, or cellulite makes them not worthy to feel pretty. Which is one of the reasons I love what I do—I get to show my clients they ARE beautiful regardless of all of those things. Angelia is one such client. She booked me because she was getting married and wanted to do bridal boudoir portraits her now-husband but she was hesitant because she hadn’t lost the baby weight from having their one-year-old son. As I always do with my clients, I assured her that between clothing that fits well, professional hair/makeup, and especially proper posing, she will look—and feel—amazing. Please read her client interview below, because you may just find you can relate. How long have you been wanting to do a boudoir/contemporary glamour session and what made you decide now was the time to do one? I have been wanting to do one for quite some time but I never really thought I could look that good doing one. Boy, did Shannon prove me wrong! I was in need of a wedding present for my husband and since I gave birth to our son I have

Remember the session I did with Mr. and Mrs. Walker? Well after they saw their portraits, I chatted with Mrs. Walker about her experience. If you find that you relate to her answers, please contact me today so we can discuss how you want to be photographed. How long have you been wanting to do a couple’s contemporary glamour session and what made you decide now was the time to do one? Quite some time, however it was not a priority on my list until I remarried. I experienced a traumatic divorce that left me feeling insecure, lacking self-confidence and a disgusting view of my body. What made you decide Shannon Hemauer was the photographer to work with to do your couple’s contemporary glamour session? I could tell after one phone call with Shannon she was the one! Shannon wanted to know me. Not only did she want to know me she wanted me to feel empowered to express what I wanted to accomplish. What was your favorite part out of the entire experience? The planning, the session, the reveal? Every part was unbelievably FUN…EXCITING…ADRENALINE PUMPING GREAT TIME! 🙂  Shannon’s assistant [Alisha], and make-up artist [Nath Mao] are one of kind. Hats off to the Shannon’s Girls. What did you think when you saw that first image of yourself? Breathtaking. How did shooting this session with Shannon Hemauer change your outlook on yourself? Are you more confident?  Invigorating. Shannon has opened my eyes to accepting myself which is a gorgeous woman in and out of photos. Before this experience, did you feel you were photogenic? If no, do you feel you are photogenic now? I have never thought I was photogenic. Now, oh yes…. Before this experience, what concerns did you have in regards to hiring a photographer? I wanted to enjoy every

The majority of my female clients are boudoir clients, which usually means the session is a surprise to their significant other, so rarely do I photograph men. The woman in these pictures booked her boudoir session and then asked me to take a few photographs of her and her husband together in their wedding attire—they are newlyweds! So the morning of her boudoir session, he arrived just as we were finishing her hair/makeup so I could take a few portraits of them together, then once we were done, he left so I could shoot the boudoir portion. He came/left thinking it was JUST for the wedding portraits—he has no idea about the boudoir portion, which will be a Christmas gift. Although I don’t shoot men often, this is something that’s always an option to all of my clients, to have your boyfriend/husband, son(s) come either at the beginning of the session (right after hair/makeup is finished) or toward the end of the session (this just avoids the men-folk from being bored and grumpy) so I can take beautiful portraits of you with the men you love. I encourage you to contact me today to schedule your complimentary consult so we can discuss how you envision your own session. A big thank you to the talented Nath Mao for styling Mrs. Walker’s hair and doing her makeup! A Sunset “Glam the Dress” Session

A Sunset “Glam the Dress” Session Take a look at my beautiful client’s before photo below…. Does she look familiar? I shot Emily’s boudoir session back in May (“Miss E, Bride-to-Be“) as she was preparing for her August wedding and I mentioned to her my “Glam the Dress” session, where brides get to wear their wedding dress again, but in a “red carpet” fashion—Shannon Style. (And yes, that is the same “before” photo I used last time. I was going to take a new photo but my husband was replacing the back door and needed me to help hold the door in the frame while he secured it to the house and makeup had already begun by the time I got back to the room. So, you can add construction worker to my resumé!) So my goal with this session was to make as many looks as possible using Emily’s wedding dress without making her look like a bride. Emily’s hair is actually shoulder length, but a few clip-in hair extensions gave her the look I was going for. I must admit I was inspired by Queen Elsa from “Frozen” for the first look—tucking Emily’s veil into the back of her gown to give her a train. Just luckily there was no snow here on this beautiful fall evening. Then we really glammed things up by adding the ivory tulle skirt to her gown for an over-the-top mermaid look. Then I played with her veil, wrapping it around her shoulders… A huge thank you to makeup artist Samantha Sisto for doing a fantastic job on Emily’s makeup, and to hair stylist Kara Rowe for doing a wonderful job with Emily’s hair! Loved working with you girls! Recently married? Married for years and just want an excuse to wear your gown again?
