Client Interview: Teresa | York PA Boudoir | Shannon Hemauer

Teresa, whom I blogged about in January, was just married in June—she took a moment before her big day and answered a few questions I had regarding her experience. Please take a moment to read through them and see if you can relate.

How long have you been wanting to do a boudoir/contemporary glamour session and what made you decide now was the time to do one?
I wanted to give a gift for my now-husband. Something that will wow him and get him ready for a life long marriage of ME 🙂

What made you decide Shannon Hemauer was the photographer to work with to do your boudoir/contemporary glamour session?
I am actually not familiar with the area and just did a Google search. Shannon was the first photographer to contact me that was delightfully responsive. I stopped searching after talking to her.

What was your favorite part out of the entire experience? The planning, the session, the reveal?
The reveal part to my now-husband was my favorite part. Although, I only gave him one picture [leading up to the wedding day], it was still worth the planning.

What did you think when you saw that first image of yourself?
I can’t believe I did this… but I’m glad I did.

How did shooting this session with Shannon Hemauer change your outlook on yourself? Are you more confident?
I actually was not in the weight range I would have liked to be when doing the session, but after seeing the photos, I was very happy with the way my body was depicted.

Before this experience, did you feel you were photogenic? If no, do you feel you are photogenic now?
I never really had an issue with having my photos taken. I did have an issue with having my photo being taken while basically nude. I can say I am slightly more comfortable with it now than before my session with Shannon.

Before this experience, what concerns did you have in regards to hiring a photographer?
How I would fill in the silence while during the session. I’m not a conversationalist when focus is on me. [Shannon’s note: I had no idea! You seemed such at ease.]

Were you surprised at how much fun you had planning your session, shooting your session, and seeing your images?
The session was more enjoyable than I expected. I felt pampered and beautiful that day. Planning the session was not something I would do again. I would rather have outfits picked out for me versus having to hunt for them. [Shannon’s note: I now offer a shopping experience for clients who feel the same way. They still need to be involved in the process, but I help take the guess work out of the equation on what will look great on them before they purchase lingerie.]

Why should other women do a boudoir/contemporary glamour session with Shannon Hemauer Photography?
I’m the type of person that has to do something for a reason. I got a manicure/pedicure for the shoot. I went out and bought a sugar scrub just for the shoot. I extra-pampered myself for the session with Shannon. If you need a reason to do something for another person (mostly for yourself), then booking a session with Shannon is a great reason to do so.
