A Pleasure to Meet You
Hello, hello! I’m Shannon Hemauer (pronounced Hey-mauer) and I’ve specialized in boudoir and contemporary glamour portrait photography for women of all shapes, sizes, and beliefs since 2014.
I am opening a studio in downtown Carlisle in early 2017, but for now I shoot out of my home in Dillsburg, PA, and I work with women from all over Central Pennsylvania—Carlisle, Harrisburg, Hershey, Gettysburg, York, just to name a few towns on the map.
I’m proud to say I only shoot this genre of photography—by specializing, I’ve mastered the lighting and posing that will hide what you want to hide and flaunt what you want to flaunt. By focusing only on boudoir/contemporary glamour, I have the proper equipment needed to capture empowering images of every woman I work with and I know how to use this equipment well.
I’m drawn to portrait photography rather than lifestyle or landscape. I like the challenge of figuring out how to place my subjects so there is a connection between them and the camera. I like posing each woman, setting up the frame, and making it as perfect as possible. I think that stems from my personality—I’m not a perfectionist but I certainly like things to look the best they can.
I enjoy the connection I have with each woman as she relaxes and has fun working with me. I enjoy the appreciation she has for photography after the session is over —there is much more than just sitting pretty and smiling— and she feels my passion from start to finish.
One of the best parts of this job—I’ve developed a long-lasting friendship with many of the woman I’ve worked with. What job allows you to have such a connection?! I love what I do!
I earned my degree in writing and I see a lot of similarities between writing and taking pictures, which is why I believe I fell in love with photography. Both are forms of communication and ways to express emotion, just of different medians.
I am a United States active duty Air Force veteran, wife, and mother.
I would be honored to take such personal portraits of you—please contact me so we can discuss how you want to be photographed.
