Boudoir Shannon Hemauer Photography Carlisle PA

Lori’s husband, Jim, contacted me late last year because he wanted to surprise his wife of almost 10 years with a boudoir session in February of this year. During our consult, he mentioned they live about two hours away so I suggested we do a rare Saturday session so they could have a long weekend away and then have a night on the town after her session with her hair and makeup done. Now, it turns out Jim has a big appreciation of lingerie, and all Lori had to do was look in her own closet to do some “shopping.” What she brought for her session was perfect for her. Such a sweet couple!   A big thank you to Ashley Becker for helping Lori look a-maze-ing, and to Alisha the Assistant for taking the fun behind-the-scene images! Are you thinking shooting a session with me is something you want to do? Well, I invite you to learn a bit about me, browse through my boudoir/contemporary glamour/before & after galleries, and then contact me today to schedule your complimentary consult to discuss how you want to be photographed. Client Interview: Mrs. R. | Shannon Hemauer Photography

So while I was in Wisconsin this past July for a family reunion, I did a session with Mrs. R.—an adorable young woman who never thought in a million years she would shoot a boudoir session, but she wanted to give her husband an amazing anniversary present so she contacted me so we could set out planning. Mrs. R. decided to keep all of her images private so I don’t have any from her session I can publicly show, so I’ve worked in some of my favorite images from 2016 throughout the interview questions. How long have you been wanting to do a boudoir session?   Three months before booking it. What made you decide Shannon Hemauer was the photographer to work with to do your boudoir session?  We have mutual friends. What was your favorite part out of the entire experience? The planning, the session, the reveal? The session and how comfortable I felt. What did you think when you saw that first image of yourself? OMG! That’s really me! How did shooting this session with Shannon Hemauer change your outlook on yourself? Are you more confident? Yes, especially around my husband. Gave me my sexy back after a couple of unfortunate medical situations. Before this experience, did you feel you were photogenic? If no, do you feel you are photogenic now? Somewhat photogenic. Absolutely now. Before this experience, what concerns did you have in regards to hiring a professional photographer? Investing in something that I was uncomfortable doing. Were you surprised at how much fun you had planning your session, shooting your session, and seeing your images?  I knew it would be fun but didn’t know it would this be enjoyable. Why should other women do a boudoir/contemporary glamour session with Shannon Hemauer Photography? Regardless of what personal issues you face, you get to

I BELIEVE Project: Rylie

I BELIEVE Project: Rylie

I BELIEVE Project: Rylie Rylie is a sweet, bright-eyed 14-year-old girl who was selected as an I BELIVE Project recipients for 2016 because of her courage to be her true self. I started the I Believe Project in 2014 as my way of giving back to the women in my community—women who have faced a life-changing challenge (such as breast cancer) and shown how resilient they are in spirit. The ultimate goal of the Project is for each recipient to feel beautiful and feminine—something far too many women do NOT experience. So, what is Rylie’s story? Rylie was born physically male but has always identified herself as female. At the age of 13—an age where we’re all trying to figure out who we are as individuals—she shared with her parents who she felt she truly was. During Rylie’s session, which I shot in Wisconsin (my husband and I were in town for a family reunion), her mother couldn’t help but shed a few happy tears. She told my team she had not seen Rylie THIS happy in a very long time. That only a year ago, Rylie was considering suicide because she was depressed not being able to be the real her. It wasn’t until she had her family’s support that things started to turn for the better for her. But I don’t want this blog post to focus on Rylie’s male-to-female transformation. Instead, I ask that you take a moment and let her confidence sink in. To be 13-14 and to know, ‘This is who I am and I want to be open with my story,’ makes her, in my opinion, one of the most confident women I’ve photographed to date. The story I want you to focus on is that she had the courage to transform in a world that is still learning how to accept and appreciate
